Soncora highlighted the importance of not only defeating American Brandon Lewis, but also impressing company president Dana White.
"I knew that was my moment, I was the underdog, I hadn't fought in three years and no one believed in me," he said in statements to DirecTv Connection.
The fighter trained in the team Los Perros Sarnosos de Breña revealed that before receiving the call to participate in Dana White's Contender Series, he had his first day working in a restaurant. After receiving the good news, he gave up that job.

Peruvian fighter Daniel Marcos 'Soncora' was hired by UFC, defeating American Brandon Lewis by unanimous decision on Dana White's Contender Series in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With this victory over Brandon Lewis, Daniel Marcos becomes the second Peruvian with a contract with the UFC currently and the seventh to sign with the company in history.
