Cristiano Ronaldo can return home next season, at least that's the wish of Dolores Aveiro. In an interview, the forward's mother hinted that Sporting Lisbon is shaping up as the next destination for the 37-year-old star. As you may recall, the Portuguese club was one of the interested parties in acquiring the services of number 7 in the previous transfer market.
"It wasn't this year, maybe it will be next year. Cristiano will play for Sporting," commented the goal scorer's mother in statements reproduced by the Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. Later, she stated that seeing the captain of the national team with the 'Lions' shirt is a promise and a pending matter.
"I told him: 'Son, before I die, I want to see you playing for Sporting again,'" said Dolores Aveiro regarding 'CR7's' return to the institution that opened the doors for him professionally. In fact, with the Lisbon team, the striker showed himself to the world and Manchester United made the signing.
The other option for Cristiano Ronaldo's mother
In the same conversation, Dolores Aveiro revealed that if her son does not join the Lisbon team, she still hopes that another family member will sign for Sporting. Thus, the mother of the former Real Madrid player trusts in her grandson: "Cristianhino will do it," she added.
Immediately, the grandmother highlighted the skills of the first heir of the former Juventus player: "At his age, he plays better than his father. When he was 12 years old, Cristiano didn't have a coach, but now he is his son's teacher," she concluded.
Cristiano Ronaldo criticized
In Portugal and the international press, the forward was criticized for the recent performance with the national team. The team led by Fernando Santos needed a draw to advance to the next round of the UEFA Nations League, but Spain scored a late goal and left the Portuguese team without a reward.
