Two days after the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced an agreement with the company 1190 Sports for the broadcasting rights of the Liga 1, Universitario de Deportes stated its position.
Through a video posted on their social media, their administrator Jean Ferrari expressed the institution's feelings.
The former midfielder also pointed out that Universitario respects the FPF's decision to seek better options for the championship's broadcasting, but clarified that the current process was carried out without the clubs' knowledge.

"We express our total concern about how the FPF is negotiating the broadcasting rights of the Liga 1. We are respectful of how FIFA is modernizing football and the autonomy of the FPF. What concerns us is how the process is being carried out, without any kind of information or oversight," he said.
Furthermore, Ferrari indicated that the issue of TV rights is very delicate because they are the main source of funding for the clubs, allowing them to pay their footballers and collaborators.
In that sense, he added: "All we ask of the FPF can be summed up in two words: fair play. The broadcasting rights represent the most important income for us, these incomes do not belong to the FPF, but to the sports institutions, their workers, footballers, and families. It is for all of them that we raise our voice."
Finally, the board member of Universitario de Deportes emphasized that they support any type of change that means progress for Peruvian football. Likewise, he made a public call to organize a bidding process that involves national teams.
"We ask for an open and transparent process to be carried out. That the commitments that already exist are truly respected, and that the clubs are informed in advance about any decision regarding their broadcasting rights. We also want the incomes of all clubs to improve for the benefit of everyone," he requested.
