This September 24th, the farewell match of Claudio Pizarro took place at the Weserstadion in Germany. However, the 'Bombardero de los Andes' stated that he plans to have another tribute match in Peru, at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium of Alianza Lima, the club he supports and which gave him the opportunity to showcase himself before going to Europe.
Although he didn't retire wearing the blanquiazul jersey, Alianza Lima is very grateful to the forward because when he left for Werder Bremen, he left a significant amount of money in the club's coffers.

How much money did Alianza Lima earn from Pizarro's transfer?
Claudio Pizarro joined Alianza Lima in 1998 coming from Deportivo Pesquero, at just 19 years old. In his first season with the club, he played 22 matches and scored 9 goals, 7 in the local tournament and 2 in the Copa Merconorte.
However, his breakthrough came the following year when he scored 19 goals in just 22 games. His best match with the 'íntimo' team was in the 7-1 victory over Unión Minas, where he scored 5 goals.
Thanks to this performance, Claudio Pizarro was sold to Werder Bremen for 1.5 million dollars, a record figure for Peruvian football at that time. Pizarro left the 'íntimos' fighting for the title; however, he was sorely missed in the final, where they lost against Universitario.
