Bad news for the Olimpia club. The organized bars of Olimpia will not be able to enter events organized or sponsored by the Paraguayan Football Association (APF) for 10 months as a result of a sanction for the disturbances that occurred during a match against local team Libertad, who were also awarded the points.

The news was announced by the APF through an official statement. In addition, the team must pay 40 minimum wages, which amount to 102,012,280 guaraníes (about $14,639), while the director must pay 30 minimum wages, around 2,942,670 guaraníes (about $422.31); and the sums must be deposited within five business days after notification.

What happened?

On September 5th, the Defensores del Chaco stadium was the scene of disorder during and after the round of 16 match of the Copa Paraguay, in which Libertad defeated Olimpia 4-0.

The match was suspended by the referee due to the "lack of guarantees for its continuation".

The fans, who initially forced the match to be interrupted by throwing objects at the Libertad goalkeeper's goal, Uruguayan Martín Silva, later threw chairs and various objects onto the field.

In its resolution, the APF determined that the match is concluded and, consequently, awarded the points to Libertad club. Due to the decision, Libertad advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Guaraní.
