The Canelo knockout at 14: I was born for this

Professional Mexican boxer Saúl Canelo Álvarez has recorded almost 40 KOs throughout his career. However, one of them, possibly the most shocking of all, is not included in this list as it occurred during his time as an amateur boxer when he was only 14 years old and fought against an adult between 30 and 35 years old.

In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Saúl Álvarez and José Reynoso talked about that afternoon, Chepo's fear when he saw the opponent Canelo would face, and his brother Rigoberto's unwavering confidence.

"We were going to have an amateur fight and Chepo was there, and he said to Rigo, 'hey, the guy your brother is going to fight is really big,' and my brother said, 'wait and see what happens,'" Reynoso told Rigoberto Álvarez before that fight.

Just one round into the fight between Canelo Álvarez and his opponent, who was twice his age, Saúl finished it in the second round with a powerful right hook that sent his rival to the canvas, ending the fight.

"I fought and knocked him out in the second round, so Chepo said, 'yeah, he is doing great, but I want to take him to the gym,' and that's how I met Chepo. (My opponent) was around 30 or 35 years old, and I was 14," Saúl said.

Before that fight, Chepo Reynoso confessed that he was afraid for Canelo's well-being, but after that day, he "never felt fear again" in any of his fights.
