Life seemed to smile on Francesco Totti after retirement. With a 20-year marriage, there was complete happiness in his family. However, it all came to an end. A few months ago, the former footballer's separation from Ilary Blasi was confirmed and recently the reasons were revealed, after a series of rumors and speculations that shook Italy.
In an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the historic AS Roma footballer confirmed that the end of his marriage was due to infidelity, which he discovered after checking Blasi's phone.
"It is not true that I was the first to betray. I said I wouldn't speak and I didn't, but I have read too many lies in recent weeks. Some have even hurt my children," Totti asserted emphatically, before revealing that he went through depressive episodes.
"The real crisis exploded between March and April of last year. But I had been suffering for a long time. I went through a difficult period, first because I stopped playing and then came the death of my father from Covid. I also had a strong case of Covid for 15 days. However, my wife, when I needed her the most, wasn't there," the former Italian national team player recounted.
When asked about the rumors of infidelity, 'Il Capitano' revealed that weeks before everything erupted, his closest circle of friends and family warned him about what was happening. And despite not believing it at first, he ended up discovering the truth.
"In September of last year, I started hearing rumors: 'Look, Ilary has another one. Indeed, more than one,'" he explained to continue with details that were not known until now: "I had never done it in twenty years, nor had she ever done it to me. But when I received warnings from different people, whom I trust, I began to suspect. I looked at her cell phone and saw that there was a third person, who acted as an intermediary between Ilary and another person. It said something like: 'See you at the hotel; no, it's more prudent on my part.".
After the relationship ended, more problems began, so Francesco Totti believes that it will end up in court with the woman he once loved: "I am afraid that it will end up in court with Ilary. I still hope that we can reach an agreement (...) Ilary took my watch collection, there are also some valuable Rolexes and she emptied the safes with her father."
So far, Ilary Blasi has not commented on the matter. It is worth remembering that they both have three children together: Cristian (16 years old), Chanel (15), and Isabel (6), so apparently neither of them will give more details about what happened.
