The match between Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt had incidents before the kickoff at the Vélodrome Stadium in France, on the second matchday of Group D of the Champions League.
According to the cameras, the ‘Eagles’ fans threw flares in the stands and made Nazi salutes.
From the minutes before the ball started rolling, the section of supporters of the German squad made their presence felt with the presence of fireworks. As a sign of rejection, OM fans booed in unison, but that did not stop the incident.
Shortly after, Eintracht Frankfurt ultras lit flares and threw them to different areas of the stands of the sports venue. In response, Olympique Marseille fans also reacted and tension increased, as the circumstances could lead to a confrontation.
And in another sector of the Vélodrome Stadium, fans of the reigning Europa League champions were involved in a regrettable act: they began making Nazi salutes and challenging the opposing fans.
Due to the bellicosity shown by the Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt fans, the French Police took precautions and ordered the closure of nearby schools and public places, in case of a confrontation.
It should be noted that in Group D of the Champions League, Sporting Lisbon is the leader with six points, followed by Tottenham with three points. Both OM and the ‘Eagles’ have not scored so far and are looking for victory to stay in the running for a place in the round of 16.
