Steam: How to hide which games you own or are playing from your friends.

Sometimes there may be a game from our Steam library that we don't want to share with even our closest friends. Fortunately, there is a way to hide which game you are playing at the moment and also which titles you have saved in your library.

How to hide what you're playing

To prevent your contacts from knowing what you're playing at the moment, you must first disconnect from chat. To do this, go to the "Friends and Chat" window and click the arrow down next to your profile. Finally, select between the Offline or Invisible modes to disappear from chat and disable notifications of what you started playing.

Keep in mind that your friends will not see what you're playing on their Steam panel. However, they could find out if they search your profile and enter it.

How to hide games from your library

This trick allows you to hide your games without having to activate the Invisible Mode. To do this, go to your profile and go to "Edit Profile".

Once there, go to "Privacy Settings" and look for the "Game Details" option. From the dropdown list, choose between "Public", "Friends Only", or "Private". This last option is the one that guarantees that no one will know the content of your library.
