The match was tied, but at 64 minutes the 'Pistolero' scored the winning goal for Nacional against Plaza Colonia in the seventh round of the Uruguayan Clausura tournament. The match ended in a 3-1 victory for Luis Suarez's team.
The 'Bolso' started the game at the Estadio Centenario with a goal from Martin Rodriguez at 14 minutes, but Plaza Colonia equalized eleven minutes later through Ezequias Redin.
Although the team from Colonia (west) had a lower performance, Tricolor couldn't find a way to turn the game around until Suarez broke the tie at 63 minutes with a shot inside the box.
The Pistolero also provided the assist for his team's third goal, scored by Diego Zabala at 71 minutes.
Suarez thus scored his fourth goal for Bolso and the third consecutive after also scoring in the previous two rounds.
Last Sunday, he thrilled the Tricolor fans with a spectacular volley goal for the 3-1 victory of Nacional against their arch-rival Peñarol in the Uruguayan superclásico.
With this result, the team led by Pablo Repetto achieved their sixth consecutive victory and is on track to become the great favorite to win the Uruguayan championship.
Tricolor has 18 points in five rounds of the Clausura, reaching the leader River Plate, who has one less match.
However, Nacional pulls away with 65 units -10 points ahead of the second-place team, Liverpool- at the top of the Annual Table of the Uruguayan Championship, which includes the points from all the short tournaments.
In the Uruguayan league, the champions of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments play a semifinal, and the winner must face the leader of the Annual Table. The winner of that match is crowned Uruguayan champion.
