The Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle. She had a 70-year reign, during which she always had international relevance in politics as well as in public appearances with the royal family.
Although she didn't show it much, Queen Elizabeth had a fondness for football. She never publicly revealed which team she supported, but throughout her life, she was associated with 2 Premier League teams: West Ham and Arsenal.
The rumor about her affiliation with West Ham started in the 2009 season when the English newspaper The Mirror reported that the monarch had confessed her fondness for the team to a member of her family.
In the case of Arsenal, it was in 2007. Elizabeth was supposed to inaugurate Arsenal's new stadium, the Emirates Stadium, but due to health problems, she couldn't be present. Because of her absence, Queen Elizabeth II invited the entire team to Buckingham Palace.
In one of her few statements about football, she recalled the presentation of the World Cup to the English team in 1966: "Fifty-five years ago, I had the privilege of presenting the World Cup to Bobby Moore and witnessed what it meant for the players, the coaching staff, and the support personnel to reach and win the final of a major international football tournament".
