In what could definitely be a big step for Lucha Underground, the popular wrestling series could soon arrive on Netflix.
According to the renowned Wrestling Observer, the producers of Lucha Underground are close to reaching an agreement with the well-known online video streaming site, Netflix.
If the agreement is reached, Lucha Underground could reach an audience of over 75 million people, the number of users currently subscribed to the platform.
According to the information gathered, initially only the first season would be available in its entirety, while the second season would be released when it finishes airing on El Rey Network, as Netflix usually releases non-original series seasons once they have concluded.
As previously reported, Lucha Underground arrived on iTunes a few days ago, where the first season (consisting of 39 episodes) is priced at $44.99 in HD and $34.99 in SD, while the season pass to enjoy the second and current season has a cost of $39.99 in HD and $29.99 in SD, with the premiere of new episodes one day after their airing on El Rey Network.
In comparison, Netflix offers its service with a monthly cost of $7.99 for its basic plan, $9.99 for its standard plan, and $11.99 for its premium plan.
Lucha Underground is currently being broadcasted in the United States through El Rey Network, a network that reaches nearly 40 million US households, and in its second season, it has averaged an audience of 100,000 viewers per episode.
