An unprecedented situation. Last Saturday, during the match between New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union in the MLS , the player from the home team, Dru Yearwood , became involved in controversy after being unable to contain his frustration and kicking the ball into the stands.

Nothing would have happened if the ball had not hit the faces of a child and a young girl who were in the stands. The English footballer realized what had happened and tried to approach to apologize, but those next to the affected individuals prevented him, as they considered it a deliberate gesture on the part of the athlete.

To make matters worse, when Dru Yearwood returned to the field he realized that the referee had given him a red card, so he had to leave the field immediately and go to the dressing rooms. The images went viral on social networks, sparking all kinds of comments.

After the incident, the club issued a statement through its social networks and apologized to its fans. "The safety of everyone attending our events at Red Bull Arena is of utmost importance to our organization. Dru is incredibly remorseful and knows that his actions were unforgivable. We will take steps to prevent this from happening again. We, along with Dru, will continue to be in contact with the families to verify their well-being," reads the statement from the New York Red Bulls.

Likewise, Dru Yearwood himself dedicated some words to what happened. "I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart to the fans who were hit by the ball I kicked during Saturday's match. My emotions got the best of me that day, and I have let down the entire organization and all the fans of the New York Red Bulls. I hope the fans are okay and can forgive me," said the British footballer.
