Denuvo Software Solutions has introduced an anti-piracy technology to combat emulation on computers of video games released on the Nintendo Switch.
Irdeto, Denuvo's parent company, has revealed this new technology called Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection in a statement published during the Gamescom video game fair taking place in Cologne, Germany.
The company has explained that Switch titles have suffered piracy issues for a while. In fact, Irdeto has pointed out that it is possible to emulate games from the hybrid console on PC from the day of its release, despite the fact that the PC version of these games does have anti-piracy protection.

Irdeto has emphasized that this new technology integrates into the titles without affecting the user's gaming experience. To achieve this, the software allows the insertion of checks within its code that block emulators.
The company has also stated that Denuvo's software will ensure that anyone who wants to enjoy a Switch game is required to purchase a legitimate copy of it.
The group has also assured that by preventing piracy on Nintendo Switch by blocking "unauthorized" game emulations on PC, development studios will be able to increase their revenue during the release window of these titles. Irdeto has defined this period as the "most important" for monetization.
