In the world of soccer, many controversies have taken place, as well as many celebrations. However, in the Croatian league, a controversial event occurred that sparked debate among fans.
In 2019, in the First League of Croatia, a controversial play took place that continues to generate debate to this day, as an optical illusion led players to celebrate a goal that did not enter the net.
A player from Slaven Koprivnica took advantage of a poor clearance by the opposing team, as well as the goalkeeper being out of position, and took a powerful shot in search of the equalizer.
The goalkeeper quickly tried to rectify his mistake but due to the momentum of his run, he crashed into the goal net. At the same time, the ball hit the post and the defender cleared it.
The controversy arose because the ball hit the post at the same time that the goalkeeper collided with the net, so the movement of the net made the players think that the ball had entered the goal.
The players of Slaven Koprivnica celebrated among themselves and their teammates on the bench, however, their rivals took advantage of the defender's clearance and scored the goal that put them 2-0 ahead on the scoreboard.

Hajduk Split won that match by a score of 2-0, however, the play sparked controversial debates and quickly went viral. To this day, the video of just under 30 seconds continues to be criticized.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to the goal, another situation that generated controversy in the viralized video was that during the goalkeeper's clearance - which originated everything - he took his hand out of the penalty area, so on social media, there were also comments about the referee not calling the handball.
