WhatsApp adapts to Android 13 with new features

WhatsApp is adapting to Android 13 and has two functions in mind for the first users of Google's new operating system. It is known that one of them is related to the aesthetic aspect, while the other is about blocking screenshots for self-destructing messages that can only be viewed once.

WhatsApp Beta introduces the new feature

This is the novelty that version 2.22.18.16 brought to WhatsApp Beta users on Android 13. It is worth mentioning that developers of this instant messaging application have a user program that allows them to test new features before anyone else. These beta testers use the feature in question to find and report any issues before it is released to the general public.

As usual with these cases, the appearance of this feature was reported by the WABetaInfo team through their account with access to the beta testers program. Yesterday and today, there were some updates for the app in its Android version, and today's update highlighted the appearance of these two features for this particular version of the instant messaging service.

A new WhatsApp icon designed to match the rest of the icons when a native Android 13 theme is active can be seen on the left. This aesthetic change will make the application blend in more smoothly with the overall style.

The image on the right shows the function dedicated to self-destructing messages. These are messages that don't need to leave a trace on our smartphone or any other device. In order to ensure that these messages truly leave no mark, screenshot capture will be blocked when viewing one.

Currently, there is no specific date for the addition of this feature in the global version of WhatsApp, but it is expected that the tests will be completed and the reception among beta testers will be evaluated.
