The 'Mengao' requests Paolo Guerrero to pay a large compensation. What is the reason?

Not all news is good for Paolo Guerrero. Although the 'Depredador' has returned to the field with Avaí FC and is gaining more continuity, now an 'old' judicial problem knocks on his door: Flamengo, the former club of the national striker, has requested that 'PG9' be summoned by the Brazilian justice for a pending trial.

The journalist and columnist of 'globoesporte.br', Ancelmo Gois, reported that 'Fla' has requested the authorities to notify the Peruvian attacker that the legal process between both parties (for the past 4 years) has not yet ended. The objective is for Paolo Guerrero to testify before the Eighth Civil Court of Rio de Janeiro for the case of moral damage filed against him by the Brazilian institution.

"In the lawsuit in which Flamengo charges, since 2018, moral damages to the forward Paolo Guerrero, the club requested the Rio de Janeiro Justice to summon the player at his new club. A judicial official must notify the Peruvian forward at the Estadio da Ressacada, Avaí's home, in Santa Catarina, that the process is still ongoing. Rubro-Negro claims the right to compensation after the athlete was caught in doping," the source said.

A few months ago, the Eighth Civil Court of Rio de Janeiro ruled in favor of Flamengo. However, the 'Depredador' appealed that decision.

WHAT IS FLAMENGO REQUESTING?

‘Mengao’ is demanding that Paolo Guerrero return an amount close to $350,000 (1.8 million reais) for image rights and not playing during the time he was sanctioned by FIFA after testing positive for benzoylecgonine and being given a one-year suspension.

Flamengo claims that the player did not fulfill his commitments to the club after his suspension was reduced to six months in Switzerland, enabling Paolo to play in the 2018 World Cup with the Peruvian national team.
