Gastón Edul, an ESPN journalist, published: "The 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or. Leo Messi is not included after 17 years. According to France Football, Rafael Leao or Seabastien Haller deserve to be there, but not Messi. They went from giving him the award to not even mentioning him. Senseless."
Pablo Mariño, on the other hand, posted: "A Ballon d'Or without the greatest of all"; likewise, Hernán Castillo, also from ESPN, stated: "Is Messi really not on this list? There are at least 10 who have done less than him this season."
