Carlos Beltrán, defender of Cienciano from Cusco, expressed satisfaction with his team's victory over Universitario de Deportes in the 6th round of the Torneo Clausura of the Liga 1 Betsson. The former Alianza Lima player scored the winning goal at the Garcilaso de la Vega stadium.
"It is important to beat a big team like Universitario, we knew they were coming a bit down but we know they have players of great hierarchy," he said on the program Fútbol como Cancha of RPP Noticias.
Beltrán also mentioned that Universitario has lost offensive weight due to the departure of Alex Valera to Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia.
"Alex Valera is a player like Danilo Carando, for whom the ball arrives and it's a goal. Yesterday Universitario had a couple of chances and couldn't convert them. Valera was a high-caliber striker that 'U' is currently missing," he added.
The 'Che', as he is called, remembered his time at Alianza Lima. "For me, yesterday's match against Universitario was special because we played for the top position. Also, because of what I experienced at the other club (Alianza Lima)," he pointed out.
