Karolina Pliskova v Katie Boulter Head to Head
Boulter leads the H2H 2-1 having won twice in two weeks in Eastbourne and Wimbledon this June. Pliskova won their match up fours ago in Tianjin.

The last time Karolina Pliskova played here in California, she had reached the final and lost to Angelique Kerber in a thrilling three setter. She returns here for the first time since that runner up finish.
Pliskova is going through a very difficult season as she has yet to make any deep run in any significant tournament all year. She has also slipped out of the top 10 rankings as she currently sits at number 15 in the world.
The Czech star is 9-11 on all surfaces this year and is yet to win a hard court match all season. Her huge serve was the key for her performances through the last few years.
However, her serve is no longer as big and as consistent as it was. She lacks the same rhythm on serve she had earlier, and is now no longer as dominant as she was once considered.
The interesting storyline building here is of Pliskova facing Katie Boulter, who had defeated the former world number 1 twice in two consecutive weeks on grass.
The Wimbledon upset was particularly massive as Pliskova had reached the Final in Wimbledon just the previous year. Pliskova will now get a chance to avenge her recent losses to Boulter.

Boulter In Form For North American Swing
Katie Boulter had made Britain proud throughout the summer as she finished the grass season on English soil 9-4. She had reached the quarterfinal in Birmingham and Round 3 in Wimbledon.
The 26 year old is having an overall strong year. Boulter had won the Grenoble ITF tournament earlier this year and made a good run in Lyon too. She is 20-9 on all surfaces this year.
Boulter has had to face many challengers in career and recover from many career threatening injuries. Her first aim has always been to remain healthy and play without pain.
A successful grass season will boast her confidence and provides proof of her fitness levels. She is currently ranked 129 in the world and has a career high rank of 82.
But on her day when she is on song, Boulter can defeat many higher ranked players and particularly players who don’t have extremely polished baseline games.

Tricky match for both players and despite her recent victories for Boulter, it is a different challenge facing a big serve away from home on hard court. Pliskova will not magically recover from her form and hence the best option is over games here.
