Universitario, 365 stories is the new book that Cream fans can purchase to enjoy stories about their beloved team. The author is the journalist Pedro Ortiz Bisso, who stated that it was very difficult to write this compendium about the merengue club.
"It was difficult to find a powerful story per day. And in the middle, because this book was born in 2018 and came across the pandemic in the middle of the process, it was more complicated to revisit the archive," he declared during an interview with El Comercio.
Similarly, he recalled that his work prevented him from making progress. "Also, my work from Monday to Sunday at El Comercio, with the position of deputy director, forced me to resume the project only at night, after the deadline. Today I look at it and say: How much does it cost to work on a book! For those of us who occasionally return to the archive, as is my case, to think a little about football, like Ezequiel Fernández Moores does in La Nación, it is also a pleasure," he added.
The press man confesses that he has always liked writing since he was a child, but he was discouraged because he felt ashamed: "I haven't read enough," he said, "to venture into this. I saw people around me who are so capable and I said: What am I doing here? In fact, with this book, I wanted to start, after so long, a series of pending projects that I had, related to football," he explained.
"My theme has always been time, before in El Comercio and now as well: I teach classes, write on a couple of sites, and occasionally speak with students who need some help. And I'm always ready to support them, I never wanted to close the door on anyone. And I've also had a bit of shame: I don't know, for example, how people will receive this book. This project is no longer mine, it belongs to those who buy it. And I leave them my promise that the next one will be even more ambitious," he expressed.
Pedro Ortiz Bisso went into detail about the topics that Cream fans can find in the book. "It is a compilation of data, short stories, memories from dozens of journalist friends, and my own experience as a reporter covering the 'U,' which summarize the life of my club in 365 days. I have gone back to those campaigns in the late 60s Libertadores, I have returned to the Tricampeonato, which I covered as a journalist in Deporte Total, and so on," he added.
It is important to mention that fans will be able to purchase Universitario, 365 stories at the Lima International Book Fair (FIL) at the Deporvida bookstore.
