LONDON: The four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah has revealed that traffickers brought him to the United Kingdom as a child, where he was forced to work as a servant for other children before escaping a life of slavery.
In a new documentary, Farah says that his real name is Hussein Abdi Kahin and that he was brought from Djibouti, a country in eastern Africa and bordering Somalia. The documentary, which tells the story of his illegal entry into the United Kingdom, was produced by the BBC and Red Bull Studios, and the BBC will broadcast it today.
The athlete said he was 8 or 9 years old when a woman he didn't know took him to the United Kingdom with a fake passport that had his photo with the name Mohammed Farah, according to the BBC report.
The woman took him to an apartment in west London, where he was forced to take care of her children, Farah said. He was not allowed to go to school until he turned 12.
