They offer more than 5,000 scholarships to learn English to public university students.

If you are interested in learning English, you cannot miss this opportunity. The Program for the Improvement of the Quality and Relevance of Higher Education and Technological University Services (PMESUT) is presenting a call for undergraduate students from up to 47 public universities.

5,311 English scholarships will be awarded to students in order to contribute to the improvement of their professional and academic training of graduates from national universities. Get all the detailed information because the call will be launched on July 15th.

Which students can obtain the English scholarship?

Each university will have 113 scholarships available that will be distributed among the students who meet the following requirements:

  • Students who are in the top third of their Professional School
  • Who are enrolled and studying between the third and seventh semester during the 2022-2 semester.
  • Students who have taken at least 12 credits in the previous semester.
  • Students who declare having a sufficient level of proficiency to achieve completion of levels B1 or B2 within the specified time frame.

It should be noted that students who are beneficiaries of the PRONABEC Beca 18 will not be able to access the scholarship.

Steps for students to apply

Before applying, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you in the top third of your career?
  • Did you take 12 credits last semester?
  • Are you between your third and seventh semester of studies during the 2022-1 semester?
  • Do you have a sufficient level of English to complete B1 or B2 of the CEFR in 12 semesters?

If your answers are affirmative, follow these steps:

  • Go to the vice-rectorate or academic vice-presidency of your university, where there will be a responsible person to answer your questions.
  • The person in charge of your university will enter the documentation into the application system.
  • The submitted documents will be reviewed by the PMESUT's technical team.
  • Then, the universities, with the lists of selected students, will be presented to the executive committee of competitive funds (CEFC) for their final decision.
  • The list of universities that will participate in the program to improve English language proficiency for public university students will be published on the PMESUT's website.
  • The selected students will be evaluated by the selected language center, which will determine if you can complete the indicated level within the specified time frame, thus accessing the offered scholarship.

What modality will the classes be received in?

The teaching of the English language will be done remotely. However, there is the possibility of accessing semi-presential or face-to-face activities, depending on the COVID-19 health emergency and consistency with the objectives set.
