Universidad Católica said goodbye to the Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana with a 4-1 defeat suffered against San Pablo in Brazil, leaving the aggregate score at 8-3 in favor of the Paulistas.
After the resounding defeat, Fernando Zampedri, the top scorer of the Cruzados, admitted that they did not perform at their best and that the opponent is several steps ahead.
"We faced a great opponent. The chances they had were decisive. We had many opportunities but couldn't convert or be accurate," expressed the Argentine forward.
Furthermore, he added that "in both matches, they were better," although he assured that now they will focus on the main objective: achieving an unprecedented fifth consecutive title in the National Championship, where they must overcome an eight-point disadvantage against Colo Colo, the current leader.
"We need to prepare for the local tournament, which is very important to us. We will keep working, we are not going through a good moment in the tournament, but we will improve. The only thing left for us is to work," emphasized the striker.
Now Universidad Católica will face Unión Española on Monday at 6:00 PM, at the Santa Laura stadium, for the closing of the 17th round of the local tournament.
