Cases of Monkeypox Increase in Peru

The Ministry of Health confirms that there are 15 infected people undergoing treatment.

Of the infected people, only one is hospitalized due to their comorbidity.

Through a press conference, the Minister of Health, Jorge Lopez Peña, announced that an in-depth investigation is being conducted on who had contact with the people infected with monkeypox.

"We are monitoring them, place by place. We are continuously searching for their contacts, for the exposures they have had, where the infection occurred," said the minister.

Similarly, he called on people who have fever, discomfort, or rashes to call the hotline 103 so that health personnel can provide medical attention at their location.

It was also learned that the patients are in the districts of Surco, Jesús María, Pueblo Libre, and San Martín de Porres.

The minister of health emphasized that this disease is transmitted through the fluids that come from the blisters that develop due to monkeypox.
