These days, after the stoppage of the European football leagues, many Colombian footballers are spending their vacations in their homeland and have taken the opportunity to see each other. This is the case of Luis Díaz, Rafael Santos Borré, and Luis Muriel, who met in Bogotá in the last few hours.
The three footballers concluded their respective club participations and these days they found no better way to relax than with a very emotional reunion in the capital of Colombia.
In addition to focusing on the start of the European leagues, surely the players touched on a relevant topic after the terrible outcome in the previous South American Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. And it is that due to age and time in the Colombian National Team, they will be the new leaders of the team that will now be led by Néstor Lorenzo.
Footballers like Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, David Ospina, James Rodríguez, and Radamel Falcao García will already be of advanced age for the next qualifying process, so the 'Tricolor' urgently needs new faces in charge so that the World Cup in Mexico, the United States, and Canada 2026 becomes a reality.
How did Luis Díaz, Rafael Santos Borré, and Luis Muriel do in their clubs?
Luis Díaz started last season playing for Porto in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. However, his great level led him to sign for Liverpool in mid-February and since then he did not stop until he became one of the most disruptive attackers in European football.
Although he did not finish the season with the 'Blue Dragons', the 'Guajiro' won the local tournament and the Portuguese Cup. Likewise, with the 'Reds' he won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, playing both finals as a starter. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful in the Premier League and the Champions League, tournaments where he reached the final stages.
Regarding Luis Muriel, the striker did not have the continuity he would have liked at Atalanta. The constant injuries played a trick on him and he ended up having a secondary role after a first semester where he was decisive in several matches, especially in the Europa League and the Champions League. Atalanta did not do so well in Serie A, to the point of not qualifying for any international tournament.
Finally, regarding Rafael Santos Borré, the forward had a quick adaptation to the Bundesliga and his new club, Eintracht Frankfurt. With the 'Eagles', he won the Europa League by defeating Rangers on penalties. The 'Commander' was key, as he scored goals in the group stage and knockout rounds.
