The NBA Draft
The NBA draft is an event that allows franchises to select a young player to constantly level and renew the competition, ensuring that it remains a high-level show.
This year, the draft took place on Thursday, June 23, and the new batch of players entering the big leagues is already known. In that regard, there has been much talk about the excessive confidence perceived in some rookies. What happened?
It is clear that an NBA rookie needs to be aware of the significant step they are taking and that their sports career will grow enormously. Therefore, it is good to encourage self-confidence to face the new challenges ahead.
However, something controversial that has generated various reactions and criticisms revolves around Bennedict Mathurin, a 20-year-old Canadian shooting guard. He was drafted by the Indiana Pacers with the 6th pick and it is already evident that he aims high in the competition, to the point of daring to challenge none other than LeBron James.
"Many people say he is great, but I want to see how great he really is. I don't think anyone is better than me. LeBron will have to prove that he is better than me," declared the rookie, who will have his first official matchup against the Lakers.
Let's hope that these statements are a demonstration of Mathurin's determination to conquer the world and not just an opinion filled with arrogance and ego that only tarnishes what could be a brilliant career in the NBA.
