Ezequiel Piovi:

"They talked to me to know my situation. I know (Rubén) Insúa wanted me. I don't close the doors to come back to the country at some point, but the reality is that today it is very difficult," stated the captain of the Albo.

"They talked to me to know my situation. I know (Rubén) Insúa wanted me. I don't close the doors to come back to the country at some point, but the reality is that today it is very difficult," stated the captain of the Albo.

Ezequiel Piovi had a conversation with journalists from the ECUAGOL portal, and among many other interesting topics, he acknowledged that there is an interest in repatriating him by San Lorenzo: "They spoke to me to find out my situation. I know (Rubén) Insúa wanted me. They also spoke to my agent (Maximiliano Pra). I don't close the doors to returning to the country at some point, but the reality is that it is very difficult today".

The Argentine midfielder from Liga de Quito also analyzed the current state of the team and the aspirations for the second half of the year: "We want to win the second stage. In this one, we were fighting at the top and in the Copa Sudamericana we ended up being eliminated in the last match, and on top of that, at home. We can compete, and our goal is to win the second phase".

In a very open conversation, Piovi talked about his beginnings and his almost departure from the field without making his debut in the first division: "I was part of the youth teams at Vélez until they released me. I was inactive for six months. And since I hadn't played in the first division, no one wanted me. I trained with a group of free agents, and no offers came up. I was studying kinesiology, and when it was a fact that I was going to quit football, a former teammate called me and said: 'There's an Italian agent who is going to take me to a club. He was looking for a central midfielder, I told him about you, and he wants to take you with me.' I had dual citizenship, and a week later we were both training in Messina. We arrived halfway through the year, and the days went by without signing anything. When the transfer window was about to close, we hadn't even signed the contract. That's when I found out that the Italian agent wasn't getting paid by the club for bringing us, so he was stopping everything. I had been training for over a month, and I wasn't going to leave with nothing. With the little I knew of the language, I spoke to the sports director and told him, 'Bring me the contract.' I didn't even know what I was signing, only that it was for three years. We played a couple of matches, they changed the coach, and the new one didn't want foreigners: they ended up terminating all of our contracts in February."

Then, he talked about his time as a player in his country and what different coaches left him: "I returned to Argentina. And once again, I started training with the free agents. We played friendlies against teams from the lower divisions, I played well, but no one signed me, and I was about to quit again. At that time, one of the coaches of the free agents went to Lamadrid (fourth category of Argentine football) and took me with him. And from there, I started to have continuity until I could play for Arsenal in the first division".

"With Huevo Rondina, I learned a lot. Especially, how to play as a central midfielder with no one next to me. He played in my same position. The truth is that he left a mark on me, and I learned a lot. I am also fortunate that, despite being new to the club, Luis Zubeldía, I believe, will teach me many things. I am someone who likes to learn. And Luis wanted to take me to Lanús at one point", Piovi said.
