Ortiz will be ready for March, however it is not possible for him to face "The Last Emperor" in his first fight coming out of an injury. That's why the "people's champion," told MMA Fighting that the best move Bellator can make is to give him a warm-up fight first.

His words:

"I'm a machine, man. I'm going to be fine. I'm going to be fine in about a month. I'm going to fight this year, 100 percent. I'm not going to have my first fight with Fedor. I'm coming out of an injury, you know. I want a warm-up first. Let's do a warm-up exercise first and let's do a great warm-up, so that everyone wants to watch it."

The UFC Hall of Fame member fell short in his attempt to capture the light heavyweight crown when Liam McGeary defeated him by submission at Bellator 142 in September. It was Ortiz's first loss on Spike TV, for the 41-year-old who is undoubtedly in the twilight of his career.
