Byron Castillo's controversy is at a high point after one of the lawyers representing Chilean football gave details about the doubts surrounding the player's nationality.
The Brazilian lawyer Eduardo Carlezzo spoke on behalf of the National Professional Football Association (ANFP) of Chile; therefore, he provided further information related to the Byron Castillo case just hours before FIFA presents its ruling on this case.

What did Eduardo Carlezzo say about the case?
Carlezzo pointed out the irregularities that Chile had observed about the player. The first is the forgery of the Ecuadorian birth certificate, as it states that Castillo was born on July 25, 1995, in Colombia, but he uses the date of November 10 in Ecuador, so his Ecuadorian nationality would be false since he was born in Colombia.
The birth certificate would be crucial to support doubts about Castillo's nationality. Chilean executives maintain that in the document presented (which they consider irregular), the player "would have been born in the city of Playas on November 10, 1998", but that "the parents are Colombian" and, furthermore, "the player's fingerprints do not exist, and we do not know why."
"That certificate shows that he would have been born in the city of Playas on November 10, 1998, and the parents are Colombian. That certificate has several inconsistencies that were not pointed out by me. I am more of a narrator than an interpreter. These inconsistencies were pointed out by the Ecuadorians themselves, by the Ecuadorian Civil Registry, and the Ecuadorian Football Federation. The player's fingerprints do not exist, and we do not know why. It is not a minor issue," said Eduardo Carlezzo to the media.

What other evidence did lawyer Eduardo Carlezzo present?
Carlezzo presented Byron Castillo's "sports passport" as additional evidence. In this document, he claimed that his registration as an Ecuadorian soccer player was in May 2012 when he played for Club Norte América, and also "In 2018, he was suspended for being the mastermind behind the forgeries."
The controversial player's passport serves as immediate proof of what the Chileans claim.
The lawyer also stated that "employees of the Guayas Civil Registry were sanctioned for getting involved."
"The player's certificate was created in the province of Guayas. Despite the fact that he was born in '98, the certificate of birth entered the computer records in 2012. How does a birth certificate take 14 years to enter the system? The answer lies in the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor's Office. Several officials of the Civil Registry were arrested for document tampering. This issue of forging players' documents is not new in Ecuador. It has been known for many years," Carlezzo explained.
Finally, Calezzo added: "What I am saying is that the player's birth certificate from the Guayas Civil Registry did not exist in the national file, which is where all certificates are sent. Byron's certificate did not exist in the National Registry, which is a very serious detail."
