Jesús Corona left the match between Mexico and Ecuador due to a possible knee injury. The alarm bells are ringing for the Mexican team after an isolated play.

Mexico had a scoring opportunity in the match at the 13th minute when Jesús Gallardo sent a cross from the left into the area where Jesús Corona took a right-footed shot that was rejected by goalkeeper Alexander Domínguez.

Jesús "Tecatito" Corona left the field injured with a knee injury in that play and after a few minutes, he requested to be substituted, showing visible signs of pain.

The National Selections Directorate has not provided a more detailed report on the player's health status at Sevilla.

Mexico vs. Ecuador: goalless draw

The Argentine coach Gerardo Martino said a few weeks ago that in the three-match tour of the United States, he expected Mexico to recover the level it had lost in recent years. He failed to do so.

"Tata" Martino, who took office in January 2019, acknowledged that although Mexico finished second in CONCACAF, the level of football has been poor compared to the first two years of his tenure.

Mexico will now return home to face Suriname next Saturday in a match for the Nations League, an opponent that seems comfortable for the team to regain form. After that, the Mexicans will have a match in the same tournament against Jamaica on June 15.

Ecuador will play another friendly match in the United States next Saturday when they take on Cape Verde in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
