Byron Castillo is experiencing one of the most challenging moments of his professional career. The Barcelona de Guayaquil defender is not only facing a demand from Chile regarding his nationality, but also constant criticism from the public, which is affecting his performance as an athlete.
A few days ago, the 23-year-old defender suffered a concerning incident in Ecuadorian football. Castillo committed a penalty against Aucas, which resulted in the opposing team's second goal and the subsequent defeat of the Guayaquil squad. However, what was more concerning was that after the foul, Byron felt ill and requested to be substituted: "Change me... I can't take it anymore," the player said to his coach.
In the last few hours, the defender held a live broadcast with his national team teammate, Gonzalo Plata, who recently achieved promotion to La Liga with Valladolid. In their conversation, the Spanish club's winger reminded him of what happened in the Liga Pro match and asked him not to let that situation happen again: "Don't cry anymore, please."
