Universitario de Deportes midfielder Josimar Vargas leaves controversy behind
The midfielder for Universitario de Deportes, Josimar Vargas, turned the page on his controversial expression against Alianza Lima to focus on the debut against Ayacucho FC and the match against his former teammate Antonio Gonzales. For 'Josi', friendship will be put aside on Sunday.
"'Toñito' has a great affection for us, he's a good teammate, but now we have to face him and then we won't know anyone," stated Josimar Vargas, who played on the same team as Antonio Gonzales for five years at Universitario de Deportes.
Josimar Vargas also indicated that Universitario de Deportes will travel to Ayacucho with the intention of bringing home the victory. However, he emphasized that one point would also be crucial to start the Apertura. "We have had good conversations and the goal is to accumulate points. It will be difficult because of the time, the field, the heat, and the altitude," he pointed out.
Josimar Vargas feels excited about the national title due to the team that has been assembled and the preseason. Personally, he believes that this could be his year. "Physically, I feel good. I have worked hard and I think we will all respond well on Sunday," he concluded.
"There is no justification for Universitario de Deportes not to start off on the right foot."
