"I am very happy. It is an honor to represent Peru. It was a very tough competition, a competition of high speed and precision. It is my first international championship after recovering from an injury," she commented with great emotion in statements for the IPD.

"I am happy to have achieved this result and bring this victory to Peru. We arrived yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), today we did the qualifying round and then the final, the 50 meters is a very competitive race," she added.

In this way, Alexia won three gold medals at the last Youth South American Championship in 50, 100, and 200 meters backstroke. However, the young swimmer has the potential to increase her personal achievements in the current tournament, where she will also compete in 50 meters freestyle, 100 meters backstroke, 200 meters backstroke, and relay races.
