Gone but not forgotten, Lance Lynn says he’ll be back sooner rather than later.
On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox right-hander updated his recovery from knee surgery which landed him on the injured list to start the 2022 season. Per NBC Sports Chicago:
“It’s moving along more quickly than our training staff would like, but right on my pace,” Lynn said. “There’s still a lot of other work left to do, and we have some time until I get on a mound. So everything’s good right now, we just need to make sure we stay on that pace.”
The White Sox could certainly use Lynn back in the rotation as quickly as possible after placing right-hander Lucas Giolito on the injured list this week with a strained ab.

ESPN reported Lynn had surgery last week to fix a slightly-torn tendon in his right knee. At the time, the Worldwide Leader predicted the 34-year-old Lynn could be sidelined for the first two months of the season.
Lynn, a two-time All-Star, is coming off his best season in baseball, posting a 2.69 ERA in 2021 and finishing third in voting for the American League Cy Young Award. It was Lynn’s third straight top-6 finish in Cy Young voting.
Lynn’s career resurrection began in 2019 with the Texas Rangers, signing a three-year, $30 million contract after a short run with the Yankees. New York acquired Lynn from the Minnesota Twins before the 2018 trade deadline, after which he went 3-2 with a 4.14 ERA in 11 appearances (nine starts).
After the 2020 season, the Rangers traded Lynn to the White Sox, who rewarded him with a two-year, $38 million extension.
