Directed by Jorge Durán, Lara is a team with young talent. Telasco Segovia is one of its biggest promises, a key piece in midfield and, at 18 years old, an international player with Venezuela, present in their country's pre-World Cup victory over Bolivia.
Durán took over the technical direction of the team this year, after having the responsibility of covering for Leonardo González during his time with the Venezuelan national team as interim coach, prior to Pekerman's arrival.
"I have already had these responsibilities (...). We must take on new challenges, especially if we have a Copa Libertadores, in which we must compete," he said to the press when his appointment was confirmed.
In preparation for the international meeting, Lara added experienced players to their young squad, such as midfielder Aristóteles Romero - a player who briefly passed through the Italian Serie A -, attacking midfielder Johan Moreno, and two returns: center-back Henri Pernía and striker Johan Arrieche.
On the other hand, in Bolívar, Brazilians Bruno Savio and Chico were signed this season, joining another player of that nationality in the squad of Brazilian coach Antonio Carlos Zago: defender César Martins. With them as their main asset, the Bolivian team is looking for a positive result to then seal the victory in the high altitude of La Paz.
"We did what we had to do, score goals and try to play a good match," celebrated Zago with the Bolivian press after the successful league debut (7-0 victory over Blooming).
