The players from Chivas and America are losing prominence and are on the way out of Rebaño and Águilas
Sebastián Córdova and Uriel Antuna are experiencing a different present than expected after being part of the Mexican national team that won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, now, America and Chivas, where both players play, are seeking the departure of their respective footballers.
In the semester prior to the Olympic Games, Córdova and Antuna were starters in their clubs. Sebastián, with America, played 901 minutes in the Guard1anes Clausura 2021, finishing the tournament with two goals and one assist in the 12 games he played, 10 of which he started.
Antuna was selected to play 18 matches with Chivas, starting in 16 of them. The player ended the season with 1,365 minutes, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Córdova and Antuna participated in the six matches played by the Mexican national team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sebastián, who played 463 minutes, contributed with four goals and three assists, while Uriel, with 286 minutes, scored one goal and provided an assist for his teammates.
Both players missed the first three matchdays of the Apertura 2021 due to their commitment to the Olympic Team, but were available to their respective coaches starting from the fourth round of the competition, where both were starters, with only Córdova finding the back of the net, scoring the only goal in America's 1-0 victory over Atlas.
As the weeks passed, Córdova and Antuna lost their starting positions in their teams and ended up being substitutes.
In the Apertura 2021, Córdova played 15 games, starting only nine of them, scoring three goals in 860 minutes of play, while Antuna played a total of 877 minutes in 15 matches, nine of which he started.
In recent weeks, there has been talk of a swap between America and Chivas involving both players. However, it seems that the negotiation has cooled off and now Córdova's destiny points to Tigres.
On the other hand, Antuna is part of a possible exchange with Cruz Azul, along with Alejandro Mayorga, for the services of Roberto Alvarado, who would end up in Chivas.
