The forward of Pumas wrote on social media his feelings after his club's elimination, and the controversial refereeing decisions.
Juan Dinenno, a football player from Pumas, expressed his disappointment because the appeal by the UNAM team to remove his expulsion after hitting Jesus Angulo's face while attempting a bicycle kick in the semi-final against Atlas was not successful. However, the striker, who published a statement, revealed that he will not speak anymore to avoid harming the feline squad.
"I would like to make my disappointment and discontent with the decision regarding the confirmation of my expulsion public. After reviewing all the evidence, it seems incredible to me that the same criteria was not applied to a person who, in similar plays with a difference of 5 minutes, did not have the same judgment despite having all the tools in their favor," Dinenno wrote in the statement he shared on his social media.
"Everyone knows that my main and first concern was the health of the Atlas player, so much so that after a painful elimination and being aware of the severity of my injury and the aforementioned events, I approached the dressing room because I wanted to apologize again and make sure everything was fine. Unfortunately, not everyone lives by the same values. I could and would like to say many more things, but sadly, I would be the one affected, as well as the great institution of which I am a part".
The play in which Dinenno was sent off happened in extra time, minutes after the Argentinean received an elbow from Anderson Santamaría inside the Atlas' penalty area, leaving him with a fractured nose. However, referee Jorge Antonio Pérez Durán, the central referee of the match, did not award a penalty despite reviewing the play in VAR.
"It was hours of great sadness, for the result, for what was, in my opinion, an injustice and also the injury. Not only that, but also the anguish of not being able to travel to meet my loved ones to prioritize my recovery," details the Pumas forward in the statement, where he took the opportunity to thank his teammates, coaching staff, and medical team of the club for their attention.
