Proud Peruvian!

Mary Luz Andía has given spectacular news to an entire country after winning the silver medal at the Junior Pan American Games Cali 2021. The national athlete finished the race in second place in the women's 20km race walking held at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium.

The race started early in the morning (7:00 a.m), according to the official schedule of the Games. Despite being a tough competition, the 21-year-old Olympian stepped onto the podium after completing the race in 1 hour, 35 minutes, and 26 seconds, two minutes behind the first-place Ecuadorian athlete Glenda Morejón.

It is also important to mention that in the women's race walking, Briggitte Coaquira was also part of the Peruvian representation, but unfortunately, she could not have a pleasant performance and finished the competition in ninth place out of twelve participants with a time of one hour, 43 minutes, and 34 seconds.

On the other hand, thanks to Mary Luz Andía's achievement, the Peruvian delegation has accumulated a total of 19 medals so far in the Junior Pan American Games Cali 2021. The athletes who proudly represent Peru have won one gold medal, nine silver medals, and nine bronze medals.
