The Cleveland Browns are once again without their right tackle and this time for a much longer period. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, an MRI revealed that Jack Conklin tore his patella tendon in the midst of Cleveland's loss to the Ravens in Week 12 and will now be out for the rest of the season.
Cleveland activated Conklin off injured reserve prior to its Week 12 game against its division rival, only to see the stud right tackle get injured again during the contest. Conklin took a pass set during the second quarter and crumbled to the ground, and appeared to be in a tremendous amount of pain.
The initial fear was that Conklin did, in fact, tear his patella tendon and while Browns coach Kevin Stefanski did not confirm that diagnosis postgame, he did call Conklin's injury serious. Upon getting an MRI, however, those fears have been realized. Conklin was replaced in the lineup by Blake Hance, just as he had been over the previous few weeks that he missed due to an elbow injury, so it's safe to assume he'll man that post the rest of the season.
Conklin was in the midst of his second season with the Browns after signing a three-year, $42 million deal with the club in March of 2020. In his first season with the club, he was named first-team All-Pro. Prior to landing in Cleveland, Conklin spent the first four seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans, who drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
From here, the Browns will look to pick of the pieces from the loss to Baltimore and the loss of Conklin as they step into their Week 13 bye.
