La FIFA realizó el sorteo de las llaves del repechaje para la Qatar 2022 World Cup. La principal novedad es que the fifth classified team from Conmebol will face a team selected from Asia. The remaining match will feature representatives from Concacaf and the OFC from Oceania.
The first play-off pairing for the Qatar 2022 qualifiers is between Conmebol and AFC. Therefore, if the qualifying process were to end today, in June of next year the Peruvian national team would face Australia, Japan, or the United Arab Emirates.
The repechage matches will take place on June 13th and 14th, 2022, and unlike previous editions, they will be single matches on a neutral field, as they will no longer be home and away matches in each country. FIFA made these changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has also affected the beautiful game.
