Carlos Zambrano had a heated moment in Argentine football. In Boca Juniors' 1-0 defeat to Independiente in Avellaneda, the Peruvian defender almost came to blows with striker Cristian Pavón.

Around the 15 minutes mark of the second half at the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium, coach Sebastián Battaglia decided to substitute the Rioplatense player, who exploded after leaving the field.

Pavón reached the bench and threw a bottle to the ground. The liquid spilled on Carlos Zambrano, who became furious and went after the local player. The Peruvian had to be restrained by Colombian player Frank Fabra and goalkeeper Javi García.

After the initial anger, Zambrano and Pavón shook hands and put an end to the confrontation. The whole heated episode was captured by an ESPN camera and shared on social media.
