The Napoli lost its position as leader of Group C in the Europa League to Spartak Moscow, which won 2-1 against the leader of the Italian championship, this Wednesday in the Russian capital, in the penultimate round of the group stage.
The leaders of Serie A couldn't count on their top scorer, Nigerian Victor Osimhen (5 goals), who was injured. With their defeat, they drop to second place, tied on 7 points with Spartak, before Thursday's match between Leicester and Legia Warsaw.
Seconds after the final whistle, Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti refused to shake hands with Spartak Moscow coach Rui Vitoria. The incident at the Otkrytie Arena has gone viral on social media.
Minutes later, the Italian coach explained what happened: "He didn't shake hands with me before the match. That's when you shake hands with the other coach, not just at the end because you won. I always greet the visiting coach before the game. It's too easy to do it afterwards only when you have won. You have to welcome someone to your stadium."
