CEB Announces Retirement from Professional Dota 2
Ceb, one of the most recognized players in the history of professional Dota 2, has announced his retirement from the competitive scene. The pro player has an extensive career, as he has been part of teams like Alliance and Mortal Teamwork, and managed to win two consecutive editions of The International with OG.
In a statement, OG bid farewell to the 29-year-old player and thanked him for the years he dedicated to being part of the squad, both as a player and as a coach.
"Today is not a sad day," the team revealed. "Today we can celebrate the incredible career that Ceb has had. The great impact he has had on the community and all of us. And although Ceb is closing this chapter of his life, Seb's journey is just beginning, and with OG there are still many adventures to come. We are infinitely grateful for what the nerd boy from Lebanon with a dream has become and for what he was able to show the world. We are so lucky to have you as a founder, owner, and the heart of OG Esports".
On his part, the player explained his mixed feelings regarding his departure from the team where he won TI8 and TI9 alongside teammates like n0tail, ana, JerAx, and Topson.
"The win or die mentality, which has driven my entire career... I no longer have it in me," he explained. "I never commit to a team or to people unless I know I am ready to dedicate every drop of energy and every second of my time. As long as I could taste victory, I kept going. When I realized that this wasn't as strong with this roster, maybe it showed me that it was probably time to look at the sacrifices and decide if they're worth it or not. Now even my body is being hurt by my sacrifices. And I have to listen to my own body. As much as I have given to this game, I can no longer continue".
Throughout his career, Ceb would have earned around five and a half million dollars, in addition to becoming one of the best offlaners in the world.
