The Squid Game 2 is a reality
During the 'Squid Game' event in the United States, the director and screenwriter of the South Korean series, Hwang Dong Hyuk, confirmed that the Netflix production will have a second season.
"There has been a lot of pressure, a lot of demand, and a lot of love for a second season. So I feel like they practically leave no option. But I will say that there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head now. I'm in the planning process," he said.
However, the creator of the series starring Lee Jung-Jae made it clear that there is still no scheduled date for the official release of the highly anticipated second installment.
"I think it's a little early to say when it will happen. So I promise you this: Seong Gi-Hun will return and do something for the world," he said.
The Squid Game breaks records on Netflix
It's worth mentioning that 'The Squid Game', along with Arcane, are the most popular and watched series on Netflix in 2021. The South Korean production was viewed by more than 111 million users through the renowned streaming platform.
