The last Sunday was very emotional for Peruvian football.
Carlos Stein returned to the First Division, after winning in the return match of the validation, played at the Monumental stadium, against Deportivo Binacional, who left Liga 1 after four years.
Carlos Stein recovered on the field what he had lost at the beginning of the year in the courts: in 2022, he managed to save the category in Liga 1 on the last day of the tournament; however, he was forced to descend after the TAS ruled in favor of Alianza Lima to recover their place in the First Division.
And yesterday, he did his job well to turn the tables on 'El Poderoso' at the Monumental stadium: in the first leg, Binacional took the advantage and won 1-0, with a goal from Johan Arango, Maximiliano Freitas became the hero of the 'carlista' team and equalized the aggregate with a header in the 77th minute.
The match forced everything to be decided from the penalty spot, where Carlos Stein was more effective and won 4-2 against Deportivo Binacional in the penalty shootout to achieve promotion to the top category.

And after the 'carlista' victory, 17 out of 18 teams for Liga 1 2022 are already set, and the eighteenth spot will come from the Copa Peru, which will be occupied by the champion of said tournament, while the runner-up will go to Liga 2.
Remember that Atlético Grau was another of the teams promoted to the First Division, after being crowned champions of Liga 2.

How is the champion of the Copa Peru determined?
The Copa Peru has reached its final stretch, and eight teams are playing a round-robin format to determine the champion. Note that the top five teams will qualify for the final playoff. Meanwhile, the team that finishes first will go directly to the final, while the 2nd place team will face the 5th place team and the 3rd place team will face the 4th place team.
Among them, the other finalist will be determined. The winner will be promoted to Liga 1, and the runner-up will play in Liga 2 in 2022.
