Sergi Barjuan closed his tenure as interim coach of FC Barcelona with a disappointing 3-3 draw away to Celta de Vigo after leading 3-0 in the first half. In a post-match press conference, the strategist attempted to explain the reasons why the club struggles to manage games, among which he considered the constant injuries.
"It's not an excuse, but players get injured in every game. If you have to make three substitutions and all three due to injury, you have to change the tactical system. It's not an excuse, but it does affect the final performance," said the coach after the match for matchday 13 of LaLiga Santander.
In the clash that took place at Balaídos, Barjuan was forced to replace Ansu Fati, Eric García, and Nico González due to respective injuries. Among the players he sent onto the field as substitutes were 18-year-old defender Alejandro Balde and 19-year-old forward Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, players with little experience in the first division due to their age, another reason he cited to explain the team's current situation.

"If you look at the squad, you're playing with kids. And it's true that waging war separately is difficult. It's not a matter of young and old. It's difficult to make that assessment when you see so many players missing. If they're all there, training is better, everyone wants to play. We're going with limited options," he said.
FC Barcelona hasn't won in four matches
With this draw, the Culé squad has gone four consecutive matches without a victory in the domestic championship. Their next match will be on Saturday, November 20 against Espanyol in the Catalonia derby, already with Xavi Hernández in the dugout.
