From the United Kingdom, commonly known 'trolls' would be penalized on social networks if accused of possible 'psychological harm to others', according to a recent bill contemplated in said country.

As reported in The Times, the UK is seeking to change online communication laws, which would include a new criminal clause for acts related to insults and chaos on social networks, which could result in up to 2 years in prison.

This proposed law aligns with the requests from the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport of the UK, an entity that regulates the actions of citizens on social networks. The entity chose to include the provision following a recommendation from the Law Commission, a legal advisory body.

This bill is considered a palliative measure against psychological abuse on social networks and internet communities. It would also encourage personal care and the reduction of child-related content on the web.

"Our comprehensive online safety bill will hold technology companies responsible for people's safety, and we are carefully considering the recommendations of the Law Commission on strengthening criminal offenses," a spokesperson for the UK told The Times.
