Unexpected Rivalry at The International 10
One of the most unexpected rivalries that arose during The International 10 is between Team Undying and T1. Although the two Dota 2 teams have little in common and compete in different regions, they were involved in two curious situations in the group stage of TI10.
In April of this year, Czech pro player SabeRLight, who belongs to Team Undying, had pointed out on Twitter that Southeast Asian players were "a bunch of noobs". This tweet caused anger among the community in that region, who felt offended by the player's comment, which he ended up deleting.
Although the issue seemed settled, the Southeast Asian players seemed to remember the incident, and they made it known during the match between T1 and Team Undying. In fact, every time Kuku managed to eliminate SabeRLight's hero, he would write "xD" in the chat as a mockery. T1 would eventually win the match, and Kuku himself would tweet that North American pro players were also "a bunch of noobs".
Interestingly, this would not be the end of the story. After improving in the last part of the group stage, T1 was on the verge of qualifying for the Upper Bracket, but they needed Team Undying to defeat or draw with Evil Geniuses. To the team's surprise, UND managed to salvage a draw against the North American team, sending them to the Lower Bracket. In this way, the T1 players celebrated the result and thanked Undying on social media for helping them.
SabeRLight himself spoke out on Twitter, jokingly stating that he felt bad for his comments and therefore did his best to draw with EG.
When Will The International 10 End?
The International 10 will conclude on October 17. The event was organized in Romania after a series of delays and changes due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Although it was originally going to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, the organizers had to change the venue when the authorities in that country decided not to issue the necessary permits for the tournament to take place.
