Cruz Azul posted a photo on social media of Cata Dominguez, in reference to Javier Aquino, which generated controversy with the cement defense
MEXICO - Cruz Azul posted a photo on their social media showing Julio César Domínguez with the trophy. However, they invited users to come up with a title for the publication, alluding to the words that at some point Javier Aquino, a product of La Máquina's academy, shouted amid an altercation in a friendly match against Tigres: "Lift the cup 'Cata', lift it."
"Everyone knows the title that this photo should have," the cementeros titled the publication of 'Cata' Dominguez while he raised the trophy they won last Sunday after defeating Santos in the final of the 2021 Clausura Guard1anes.
The episode of that altercation occurred in the Copa por México semifinals, a friendly tournament that took place prior to the Guard1anes Apertura 2020, in which in addition to Cruz Azul and Tigres, Chivas, Pumas, América, Toluca, Atlas, and Mazatlán also participated.

Cruz Azul and Tigres clashed in the prelude to the final. The score ended 1-1 after regulation time, so it was decided on penalties, and tensions heated up.
It all started with an exchange of words between Guido Pizarro and Robert Dante Siboldi, former coach of the cement team.
"Siboldi, let's go outside, I'll wait for you, son of a b... Siboldi, come out here," yelled the Argentine while being restrained by Ricardo Ferretti. Siboldi, upon the referee's request to leave the field, said, "You come."

When tensions seemed to cool down, Javier Aquino, despite being a product of Cruz Azul's academy, reminded the celestial players of the drought of titles. "30 years without winning anything and you keep complaining. Lift the Cup, 'Cata', lift it."
La Máquina was crowned champion of that friendly tournament after defeating Chivas 2-1 in the final.
